Tyler Special Information


We are pleased that you have selected ETMC Tyler for your healthcare needs and pledge that the care and diagnostic procedures you receive will be delivered in as pleasant and comfortable a manner as possible.


Pastoral care is always available to patients and their families. A chaplain, who is a member of the hospital staff, is on site each day, Monday through Friday, and is on emergency call on nights and weekends. In addition, a team of specially trained staff members is available to assist patients in reaching their own pastor and those spiritual resources that are most meaningful at a time of illness. Please ask your nurse for more information about these services.

Nursing Staff

The professional nursing team at ETMC will monitor your condition and intervene as needed to provide compassionate, personalized care. Throughout your stay, your nurses will keep you informed of your treatment plan and help you with your personal needs. As a patient advocate, your nurses will provide safe, nurturing, family-centered care. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask your nurse. He or she will be happy to assist you and your family. If you have special issues or concerns, please ask for your nursing director, who will promptly assist you. If further assistance is required, please call Nursing Administration at extension 68640. Or, you may ask for the house supervisor, who is available at night and on weekends. Occasionally, you or your family may want a private sitter during your stay. There are several outside agencies who provide this service for a fee and they are listed in the yellow pages of your telephone directory under Nurses.

Case Management

Case management is a collaborative effort between a case manager, the patient, the patient's family and friends and healthcare providers to provide cost-effective, efficient, quality patient care. Beginning at a patient's admission into the hospital, an appropriate discharge plan is developed in coordination with the patient and family. The case manager and physician evaluate the plan for appropriateness. As the patient moves through each phase of care, the plan is re-evaluated to ensure it continues to meet the patient's needs. Case managers are available on each unit Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Please notify your nurse if you have any questions or concerns that your case manager can assist with. Volunteers ETMC Tyler is fortunate to have a wonderful group of volunteers to serve you. The auxiliary women in pink jackets and auxiliary men in all-white uniforms may be seen in various areas of the hospital. These volunteers give generously of their time to provide many hours of service each week to our patients and visitors. Volunteers are available to provide assistance each weekday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, please contact the volunteer service office by dialing 903-531-8199.

Pet Therapy

ETMC offers pet-assisted therapy to help in the healing and rehabilitation of our patients. The pets visit patient care areas at specific times throughout the month. If you are interested in a visit, please contact your nurse. More
