Our Center is accredited by CARF for Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient and Stroke Specialty Services. CARF reviews a facility's organizational processes and adherence to rigorous quality standards. Ongoing quality improvement measures are also an integral part of the accreditation process.
Our Patients
Our patients are referred by their physicians usually as a next step after hospitalization for illness or injury that leaves them with deficits in mobility, activities of daily living and or cognition. In 2011, ETMC treated nearly 1050 adult rehabilitation patients who ranged in age from young adult to geriatric. The average length of stay was about 13 days. Over 73% of patients were able to go home from the Rehabilitation Hospital.
Our patients are medically stable and can tolerate a minimum of three hours of rehabilitation therapies each day. There is an expectation that self care abilities will improve or that a caregiver will be taught to perform necessary care. Payment sources include Medicare, Worker’s Compensation plans, the Texas Department of Assistive Rehabilitation Services (DARS), and various commercial insurances as determined by the patient’s coverage.
