The ETMC Behavioral Health day treatment program offers outpatient day treatment for those with emotional difficulties.
Who can use the outpatient program?
Anyone qualifies who meets the criteria of diagnosis for depression, anxiety, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Call for free information or questions about any disorder not listed, and ETMC Behavioral Health will also give a free assessment. Currently, only adults are treated in our PHP.
What are the benefits of the outpatient program?
It is most of all a preventive measure that avoids inpatient care for some patients. It is also a continuum of care for those who have been inpatient and need extra help to get back into their everyday life.
When is outpatient care offered?
It is offered during the day. People do need to be able to attend during daytime hours.
How much time is spent in this program each day?
Day treatment is an intense therapeutic program that is conducted on an outpatient basis. The hours usually consist of about four to five hours of group and individual therapy a day, five days a week (Monday-Friday).
Who staffs the program?
It is headed by a program director. We have a psychiatrist over the program and the doctor will see the patient each week. There is an interdisciplinary treatment team also involved in the program.
What treatments are included?
Many different types of treatment are involved including coping skills, stress reduction and medication education, to name a few. There is also time to relax and even walk around and get some exercise. Above all the program is a chance for the participant to refocus and reset some goals and get life back on track
What is the benefit of this program?
Day treatment allows the patient to receive treatment while maintaining a job and other activities of life and it may prevent the need for inpatient care.
