The ETMC Rehabilitation Center Parkinson's Disease Program is aimed at promoting quality of life and independence for Parkinson's patients.

Coupled with expert medical and pharmacological management, the goal of the Parkinson�s Disease Program, is to help delay or minimize potential secondary Parkinson's impairments, promote functional mobility and slow the progression of functional limitation.

Our professional staff is qualified and interested in providing individualized Physical Therapy programs, which include:

  • Comprehensive evaluation
  • Determination of problem areas
  • Goal setting
  • Treatment
  • Safety education

The need for adaptive equipment and speech therapy may also be assessed. Taking into consideration the progressive nature associated with Parkinson's Disease, we also provide a Community Wellness Program.

This program is designed to maintain an individual's balance, strength and flexibility.

Community Wellness Program Details

Who:
A patient discharged from therapy with PD diagnosis or clients referred to the program by a physician (clients must present a medical release to exercise). Clients must also meet entrance criteria related to ambulation and balance to ensure client safety.

When:
Tuesdays and Thursdays One hour class times. Please inquire for schedule.

Where:
ETMC ETMC Rehabilitation Center Outpatient Therapy Gym (first floor)

Cost:
$30/month

How Many:
Each class will be limited. Additional classes will be offered as interest demands and as staffing is available.

What:
Each class will be directed by licensed therapty staff and assisted by exercise technicians. The class will focus on three components:

  • Flexibility
  • Cardiovascular activity
  • Strengthening

An occupational therapist is also available to address any adaptive equipment and energy conservation needs.
