After several elimination rounds, the team won the event after correctly spelling "Emphysema". The spelling bee is a fundraiser for the Jacksonville Literacy Council, which provides tutoring and assistance for people seeking to improve their literacy and living skills, earn a GED, learning English as a second language and studying for the U.S. citizenship exam.
