East Texas Medical Center Gilmer, while technically considered ‘rural,’ is located within the Longview/Marshall metroplex (150,000+ population) and offers the option of city or rural living. Longview/Marshall area enjoys the benefits of two malls and all major restaurant chains and fine dining establishments.

There are several colleges and universities in the Longview/Tyler area for easy access to higher education opportunities. The area is heavily forested with several area lake recreational areas within five to thirty minutes of Gilmer/Longview. ETMC-Gilmer is 15 minutes from Longview; 45 minutes from Tyler, one hour and thirty minutes to downtown Dallas, TX or Shreveport, LA.

ETMC Gilmer is a 35 bed acute care facility, level IV trauma center with full suite of diagnostic and lab capabilities. All labs, radiologic imaging, ER and inpatient records are available electronically on line. ETMC-Gilmer is part of the East Texas Medical System of twelve hospitals, including ETMC-Tyler, a level I trauma center.
