Through philanthropy and volunteerism, the ETMC Foundation provides opportunities for individuals and organizations to have a meaningful impact on the lives of others. The following stories provide a brief look at some of the ways gifts to the ETMC Foundation are already at work.
Growing Together Day Camp
Children with diabetes learn more about diabetes management and make new friends at ETMC's Growing Together Day Camp at Camp Tyler each summer. Designated gifts to the ETMC Foundation provide support to this important community health project, enabling the camp to be offered at no cost to the young participants and their families.
Mobile Mammography
Following a tour of the ETMC Cancer Institute, Mrs. Ann Fleming White of Tyler was moved to support the lifesaving outreach of the Mobile Mammography program to East Texas women. Upon her death in 1997, Mrs. White left a $1.5 mission endowment to the ETMC Foundation to foster this program.
Hide-A-Way Lake Olympic Center
Thanks in part to a gift from the late Mrs. Margo Huff, ETMC was able to expand the wellness horizons of Lindale area residents through the construction of the Olympic Center at Hide-A-Way Lake. The wife of Bill Huff of the Reynolds and Huff road construction business and a successful businesswoman in her own right, Mrs. Huff provided a gift of $450,000 which was designated for construction purposes. Through the application of these funds, the ETMC Foundation created a progressive health enhancement rehabilitation center, dedicated to fostering healthy lifestyles and rebuilding lives affected by disability.
ETMC Auxiliaries
In ETMC hospitals throughout East Texas, hundreds of women and men make a difference in their world by giving countless hours of time and talent through the ETMC volunteer auxiliaries. The ETMC Foundation promotes this spirit of volunteerism through ongoing programs that honor and encourage our volunteer leaders.
ETMC Rusk
In 2004, ETMC celebrated the opening of the new ETMC Rusk medical complex with the Rusk, Texas community. More than $750,000 in community gifts to the ETMC Foundation/ETMC Rusk Building Fund helped make this dream a reality.
