Medical Fitness Week and the 70,000 Steps Walking Challenge
The ETMC Tyler Olympic Center is recognizing the 6th annual Medical Fitness Week, April 19-25.  The goal of this initiative is to promote an increase in physical activity levels and to highlight the medical fitness difference.  A major part of the initiative is the National Walking Challenge which encourages participants to walk 70,000 steps in 7 days.  Walking Challenge participants receive a free pass to the Olympic Center during Medical Fitness Week and record and report their steps daily.  Prizes are available for highest steppers.  Participants must be 18 years of age or older.  To sign up call 903-596-3233.

Strive for 5!  Update: Registration is Full
Have you always wanted to participate in and finish an entire 5k race but you just felt like you needed a little guidance for your training?  Now is your chance to train for and join the thousands of others who have participated in the Komen Tyler Race for the Cure.  The ETMC Tyler Olympic Center is offering another session of it's highly successful jogging/running program Strive for 5!. 

Strive for 5! is a 10-week training program, leading up to the Komen Tyler Race for the Cure, for individuals who are new to jogging/running and would like to be able to complete the entire 5-k (3.1 mile) distance.  Strive for 5! is led by marathoners Greg Maschal, MEd and Cara Erwin, BS.  Program begins March 8 and is limited to the first 10 participants.  For more details and sign up information please call 903-596-3233.

Sunday Hours Are Here!
The Tyler Center is now open from 1 p.m - 5 p.m. on Sundays.  Please note that these hours are for the gym only.   The pool, locker rooms and front desk are closed at this time.

March Fitness Seminar: "Eating Your Way to Better Health"  Healthy choices come from a healthy knowledge. Come and join us as Natalie Roberts, MS, RD, LD, Registered Dietician, will be discussing how to improve your eating habits for a better quality of life. Seminar will be held 5:30p.m. - 6:30p.m. in the Education Room across from the Tyler gym.  Cost is free.  Call 903-596-3233 to register.
