Who is ETMC EMS
The East Texas Medical Center Emergency Medical Service is the newly chosen
provider of ambulance service to Waco and nearby communities. Founded in
Tyler in 1968, we have grown to become Texas' largest private,
not-for-profit provider of emergency ambulance service. Our regional trauma
care system is part of the progressive ETMC Regional Healthcare System: 14
hospitals, more than 30 clinics, and centers of excellence in cancer care,
heart care, neuroscience, rehabilitation, urology and behavioral health.

What number do I call for an ambulance?

You should dial 911 in the event of an emergency, and EMS will be contacted.


Where are your ambulances located?
Our ambulances are stationed strategically throughout the service area,
allowing us to respond swiftly to every call in our service area.

If I live in a rural area, how can I know if I am in the ETMC EMS service area?
Call your sheriff's department. They can tell you which ambulance service
will be sent to your household.

Will ETMC EMS take me to the hospital of my choice?
Yes, you will be taken to the hospital of your choice, unless specific
medical conditions require a higher level of care than is available at the
facility you requested. In that case, ETMC EMS will take you to the nearest
hospital providing the level of care required.

What does an ETMC EMS membership include?
Your membership covers you, your spouse and your children under 25 years of age living in your residence, for unlimited medically necessary transports
throughout the ETMC EMS service area if transported by ETMC EMS ambulances. Your membership period is October 1 through September 30.

How much does ETMC EMS membership cost?
Your membership fee is $60 a year for applicants with health insurance, or
$68 a year for applicants without health insurance. By comparison, the
average ambulance transport costs $640.

Does ETMC EMS accept assignment?
Yes, we accept assignment for all Medicare ambulance transports.

Yes. If you provide the information, we will file your insurance directly.

How does the quality of ETMC EMS compare with other ambulance providers?
As the state's largest private, not-for-profit provider of emergency
ambulance service, ETMC is known by thousands of Texans as "the one to
call." We earned our reputation by our 35-year commitment to top quality in
every phase of the operation. All 85 ambulances are equipped with Advanced
Cardiac Life Support and staffed by highly trained, certified paramedics
and Emergency Medical Technicians. Every dispatcher is certified as an EMT
and an Emergency Medical Dispatcher. It's all coordinated by one of the
state's most comprehensive communications system, sending the nearest
ambulance wherever they're needed within our 17-county, 17,000-square-mile
service area.
