Our commitment
From diagnosis and management of vascular-related disorders to cardiac monitoring, thrombolytic therapy, angioplasty, stents, atherectomy, revascularization and an electrophysiology service to correct irregular heart rhythms, we are prepared to meet your needs.
Our Tyler facilities opened in 1993 and were designed from the ground up to treat heart patients. Our center was the vision of noted cardiologists and cardiac and vascular specialists who assisted in the creation of a facility dedicated to optimum patient care.
As part of this revolutionary approach, all cardiac diagnostic functions and treatments are located in the same area.
Cath labs and surgery suites
This area includes cardiac catheterization laboratories and two cardiac surgery suites and a cardiovascular intensive care unit.
Additionally, ETMC EMS ambulances are equipped with technology that lets us diagnose serious heart attacks while patients are en route so that proper care can be administered expediently.
Electrophysiology
The ETMC Cardiovascular Institute also offers the comprehensive electrophysiology service in a dedicated electrophysiology lab for the study and correction of irregular heart rhythms.
Monitoring and Diagnosis
We also provide diagnosis and management of vascular-related disorders as well as cardiac monitoring in our telemetry unit.
Patients are evaluated and treated with a wide range of interventional options, including thrombolytic therapy, angioplasty, atherectomy and revascularization. Our imaging capabilities also include 64-slice technology in Tyler and other hospitals for heart scans that help identify problems early so that physicians can suggest treatment that may head off major cardiac incidents.
Across the region
At ETMC hospitals throughout the region, cardiac rehabilitation patients receive expert follow-up care at regularly scheduled clinics from specialists on staff at ETMC Tyler. In some cases, cardiac testing can be provided for rural patients, so they don't have to travel to Tyler for diagnostic procedures.
We are also extending cardiac rehabilitation into ETMC hospitals and rural health clinics across the region.
Chest Pain Accreditation
At ETMC Tyler our cardiology program has earned full Cycle II accreditation with PCI from the Accreditation Review Committee of the Society of Chest Pain Center on Dec. 28, 2007. Accreditation expires Dec. 27, 2010. East Texas Medical Center is the 382nd accredited Chest Pain Center in the nation.
