Dr. Bob Carlson welcomed by community
CROCKETT, TEXAS - ETMC Crockett has announced that Board Certified General Surgeon Bob Carlson, MD, FACS has joined the hospital's medical staff.
Dr. Carlson is certified by the American Board of Surgery and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and a former member of the Colorado Medical Society.
He was raised in Boulder, Co and most recently worked at a regional medical center in Northeastern Colorado.
"I found this part of East Texas to be a perfect location for my practice which would allow me to be near several family members and friends I have in Houston. It is far enough to be away from the problems of the big city but close enough to get to when you want," Dr. Carlson said. "I look forward to serving patients in this area and to participating in various community events," he added.
Dr. Carlson will provide a wide spectrum of surgical procedures including laparoscopic, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, colon resections, breast surgery, upper and lower endoscopy, as well as minor vascular surgery.
Dr. Carlson will maintain an office at ETMC First Physicians clinic and serve patients at ETMC Crockett. Patients should consult with their primary care physician for referrals to Dr. Carlson.
"We are honored to have a physician with Dr. Carlson's credentials join the ETMC Crockett team," said ETMC Crockett Administrator Terry Cutler. "He will be a tremendous asset to our exceptional team of healthcare professionals," Cutler added.
Dr. Carlson has been involved in various church activities, and his leisure interests involve sports (primarily football and baseball) as well as running, snow skiing, radio broadcasting , reading and auto mechanics.
"I will miss the snow skiing," Dr. Carlson said, "but will enjoy the open forested country here, often described as 'Paradise in the Pines.'"
As far as his travels abroad, he has been to various destinations in Africa including Kenya and Tanzania; South America, specifically Brazil; and Europe numerous times with his father to revisit the places that his father fought during the Second World War
Honors that he has received include the Marshall University Class of 1997 Best Resident of the Year, Seddon Award (1996), Cabell Huntington Hospital Surgical Resident of the Year (1994), and the Omega Chi Epsilon Chemical Engineering Honor Society.
