Gilmer, Texas – Jorge Leal, administrator of ETMC Gilmer, has been appointed chairman of the Texas Hospital Association Leadership Development Council. Leal will begin his one-year term Jan. 1.
The THA Leadership Development Council is designed to facilitate learning opportunities for young, emerging leaders of Texas hospitals, as well as provide their perspective on current issues to THA, its board and the public.
Leal joined the ETMC system in November 2008 as associate administrator of ETMC Gilmer. He was promoted to administrator in December 2009. During his tenure, the hospital has experienced significant growth and has achieved and maintained high levels of patient satisfaction.
In addition to his role with the THA Leadership Development Council, Leal serves on the Texas A&M University Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health MHA Alumni Advisory Board and the East Texas American College of Healthcare Executives’ Executive Council. He is also a member of the Texas Organization of Rural & Community Hospitals.
Leal earned both his bachelor’s degree in biomedical science and his master’s in health administration from Texas A&M University.
Active in the Gilmer community, Leal is a member of the Rotary Club of Gilmer, the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce and St. Mary’s Catholic Parish.
