FAIRFIELD, Texas – In celebration of National Rural Health Day, the public is invited to a community open house and sneak preview of the new emergency department at ETMC Fairfield, to be held from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17.
Construction began more than a year ago on a project to renew and expand ETMC Fairfield, including a significant expansion to the hospital’s emergency department and the creation of a new rural health clinic under the hospital’s roof. In addition, new space for cardiac rehabilitation will be added, along with a conference room large enough for community health education opportunities.
The new emergency department features seven spacious treatment rooms and a light-filled waiting area, while the new triage room located beside the patient reception desk will enable the staff to quickly assess patients. Patient care is expected to move into the new area of the department soon after the open house, allowing renovations to begin on the hospital’s two trauma rooms and the remainder of the department.
“We are privileged to provide healthcare services in a rural area, and National Rural Health Day is the perfect opportunity to invite our community for a sneak preview of our new emergency department” said Raz Cook, FACHE, ETMC Fairfield administrator. “Freestone County offers a great quality of life, and the new emergency department will only enhance that. We are excited about the changes that are underway and invite the community to join us.”
ETMC Fairfield is part of the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System. Other ETMC hospitals include those in Athens, Carthage, Clarksville, Crockett, Gilmer, Henderson, Jacksonville, Mount Vernon, Pittsburg, Quitman, Trinity and Tyler.
