ETMC volunteers from across East Texas create new cookbook

ETMC volunteers from across East Texas have contributed nearly 500 of their favorite recipes to a new cookbook, “Cooking Up East Texas.”

The cookbook is available for purchase at ETMC hospitals in Athens, Carthage, Clarksville, Crockett, Gilmer, Henderson, Jacksonville, Pittsburg, Quitman, Tyler and Trinity or from ETMC volunteers for $20 per copy. Proceeds from cookbook sales benefit each local ETMC hospital and the patients served, plus other activities supported by the volunteer groups.

The three-ring-binder-style cookbook features recipes for appetizers, main dishes, desserts and more, as well as kitchen tips Volunteer Cookbookand hints.

“Volunteers are at the heart of ETMC’s mission of care, and we are so happy to have the regional effort that produced this fabulous cookbook,” noted Jacque Fowler, director of Volunteer Resources at ETMC Tyler. “The cookbooks sold by each volunteer group will help their own hospitals and service activities.”

Elmer Ellis, ETMC president and CEO; Gillian Sheridan, CBS19 anchor; Grant Dade, KLTV, Channel 7, meteorologist and country music stars Lee Ann Womack and Neal McCoy are among the many East Texas celebrities who contributed recipes to the cookbook.

The East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System is a not-for-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life in communities throughout East Texas.  ETMC facilities include hospitals in Athens, Carthage, Clarksville, Crockett, Fairfield, Gilmer, Henderson, Jacksonville, Mount Vernon, Pittsburg, Quitman, Trinity and Tyler.
