ETMC Pittsburg celebrated 50 years of membership in the American Hospital Association recently with the presentation of a 50-year membership plaque presented by the AHA’s Alex R. White, Jr., FACHE, to ETMC Pittsburg Senior Administrator Perry Henderson and the hospital’s board of trustees.
“Membership in the AHA provides ETMC Pittsburg and other hospitals across the nation the opportunity to have our collective voices heard regarding a variety of issues that affect hospitals, and ultimately the patients we serve,” Henderson said. “Achieving 50 years of membership is a testament to the value of AHA membership.”
The American Hospital Association, through its representation and advocacy activities, ensures that its members’ perspectives and needs are heard and addressed in national health policy development, legislative and regulatory debates and judicial matters. The AHA provides education for healthcare leaders and is a source of information on healthcare issues and trends.
Founded in 1940 as the Pittsburg Medical & Surgical Center, the hospital affiliated with the East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System in 1983, becoming ETMC Pittsburg.
The American Hospital Association was founded in 1898, and now serves close to 5,000 hospitals, healthcare systems, networks and other providers of care. It has 37,000 individual members.
